Hello I’m Jim, Procurement Manager at REL
246 yards, I’m eying up the fairway with a 3 wood in my hand, I know John’s sweet shot down the middle will roll nicely onto the green, just a few yards from the hole. I’d been playing Port Glasgow since 1983, so knew the course like the back of my hand. Slight cross wind from left to right, but a shot I’ve played a thousand times before. I paused for a minute, taking into account the stunning views across the River Clyde and beyond, then played my shot just how I always did.
1998 was the year I’d won the Club Championship a record 7 times in a row, but it was also the year I joined the REL Team. I’m born and bred Port Glasgow, so when REL built their Facility only a few hundred yards from my home it made perfect sense to me to try to join the team.
16 years later, I’m proud to manage the Procurement for this great company. My responsibilities include sourcing and purchasing raw component material direct from OEM’s and ODM’s, from a worldwide market. The role certainly is challenging, managing hundreds of suppliers worldwide and using our systems to ensure deliveries are in line with our customer requirements. Pricing must be competitive, deadlines crucial, and quality to the highest standards our customers expect from REL. There’s never a dull day at REL and I pride myself in the role I play for the REL Team, and In return we all reap the rewards.. .
