REL has a vital role to play in conducting its business operations in an environmentally sound way.
The disposal of electronic products and component parts and what happens to them when they’ve reached the end of their useful lifespan is a hot topic for governments and consumers alike. REL aims to provide our customers with products, services and solutions that have minimal impact on the environment and promote the use of recycling wherever possible - nothing is dumped into a landfill.
“On every job we want to raise the bar on all applicable and current environmental legislation."
Maria Hamill, Quality and Environmental Management Systems Manager, REL Group.
To ensure this, REL introduced an environmental policy which is applied to all areas of our business from assembly and test and printing of electronic parts, repair and upgrade of computers and components, supply of tooling and cable accessories, to storage and logistics.
It also addresses issues including waste minimization, waste management, recycling and consideration of environmental impact as a main criteria when conducting audits on suppliers, new products, logistics and warehousing. We've also managed to reduce our own in-house running costs through effective focus on our fuel costs.
REL is accredited to and has achieved IS0 14001:2004 certification and our environment management system is based on its principles.
